- ¼ cup butter (room temperature)
- ⅔ cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup MUSSELMAN’S® Apple Sauce
- 1 cup flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ⅛ teaspoon cloves
- ½ cup raisins
- 2 Tablespoons butter (melted)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
In a medium bowl mix the dry ingredients; flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl blend 1/4 cup butter and brown sugar well, then add the egg and apple sauce. Add in the dry ingredients and beat until smooth. Stir in the raisins by hand.
Pour batter into the baking pan. Bake for 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.
Melt 2 Tbsp of butter. Blend in powdered sugar and enough milk for spreading consistency. Stir in vanilla extract and beat until smooth.
Spread frosting onto cooled cake and let set for 20 minutes. Icing will slightly harden making it easier to cut into bars.
