This spice cake is perfect for dessert or just as a snack with a cup of tea. Made with Musselman’s Apple Butter.
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
Step 2
In a medium bowl combine flour, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves.
Step 3
Cream sugar and softened butter or margarine in large mixing bowl. Add eggs, beating thoroughly.
Step 4
Beat in dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Stir in apple butter. Pour batter into the pan.
Step 5
Bake 55 to 65 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan.
Step 6
Make orange glaze by combining powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange peel zest in a small bowl. Spoon glaze over warm cake.
