Country Baked Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cups cooked beans (from dry, cooked to package directions, reserve liquid)
  • 2 ounces Canadian bacon, cooked and diced
  • 1 cup MUSSELMAN’S® Unsweetened Apple Sauce
  • 1 cup reserved bean liquid
  • ¼ cup MUSSELMAN’S® Apple Cider Vinegar
  • ¾ cup molasses
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray

Directions

  1. Step 1
    Preheat oven to 325°F. Spray a 9-inch square baking pan or bean pot with cooking spray.

  2. Step 2
    Arrange sliced onions on bottom of the pan, and then add beans.

  3. Step 3
    In a medium bowl combine bacon, apple sauce, bean liquid, vinegar, molasses, tomato paste, mustard, cloves, salt, and pepper, and then stir into the beans beans.

  4. Step 4
    Cook, covered, for 2 1/2 hours. Remove lid and cook uncovered for 30 minutes or until browned on top.
