Oatmeal Breakfast Bars

Don’t let the family start the day on empty. You can even make them in muffin cups for on-the-go. We added dried cranberries, but you can add your family’s favorite dried fruit and nuts. Made with Musselman’s Chunky Apple Sauce.

Ingredients

  • cup sugar
  • 1 cup MUSSELMAN’S® Chunky Apple Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 Tablespoon honey
  • 1 ½ cups oats, quick-cooking
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup dried cranberries

Directions

  1. Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray an 8 x 8-inch cake pan with cooking spray.

  2. Step 2
    In a large bowl, mix sugar, apple sauce, milk and honey until well blended.

  3. Step 3
    In a small bowl, combine the oats, flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually add the dry oat mix to the apple sauce and blend well. Stir in the cranberries.

  4. Step 4
    Spread batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack.

Add the batter to a muffin pan lined with paper liners. perfect for an on-the-go breakfast.

    This is a great low fat recipe, my family loves it. I add nuts along with the dried cranberries. It doesn’t last long around here.

    I added 1.5 tsp of cinnamon and substituted fresh blueberries for the craisins, I also used Lakanto monkfruit sugar to reduce calories/carbs
